Old Walls, New Beginnings

Nestled just outside the community of Pochaiv in central Ukraine lies a beautiful stretch of land that comes alive with laughter, learning, and life each spring, summer, and fall. This property has been a safe haven where children and teens gather for camp — a place to build friendships, deepen their faith, and experience joy in a peaceful setting.

But the facilities are struggling to keep up with the growing number of campers. The main building currently serves as a combined dining and meeting space, while two smaller buildings offer only limited overnight accommodations. As more and more young people are drawn to this special place, the need for expanded space has become clear.

This is where you come in. We’re asking for your help to replace one of the aging buildings to better serve the needs of this vibrant, growing community. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for construction materials and to send a dedicated team from Canada to help bring this vision to life next May.

Join us in creating a space where young hearts can be nurtured, memories can be made, and lives can be transformed.

Ukraine Building Project

For two weeks in May 2025, twelve team members from Canada and USA joined forces and traveled to western Ukraine. Nine men and three women gave two weeks of their lives to make an eternal difference for the people caught in a war.

This camp property is deep in the Carpathian Mountain range where life is peaceful and calm, a welcomed break from chaos that encompasses so many lives. The team built structures to support an ever-increasing number of people seeking a place of refuge and hear about God’s love and care. Here our Baptist churches work together and provide many this opportunity for renewal.

The team were introduced to some of the most dedicated servants of God who worked alongside of them each day. It was rainy and cold most days, but spirits were not dampened to complete the tasks before them. Cement was poured, tiles were laid, trees were trimmed, and everything was cleaned preparing for a season of camp for hundreds of people to enjoy.

Funding was provided by generous donors in both Canada and the USA. We are grateful for faithful partners who make such projects possible. We express our gratitude to you who support those who go and make an impact on so many lives for God’s glory. This summer over 60,000 children and teens will be assisted through SGA to attend such places.

A Birthday to Remember

I’d like to share a special story about Semyon, who turned 13 on April 18. Taken from his home at age 2, he had no memory of his family—only a distant hope of finding his older brother and sister someday.

With God’s help, I was able to track down his siblings, Vladislav (18) and Nastya (16), who were adopted into different families but lived in the same city. Vlad was eager to reunite and traveled with his sister to surprise Semyon the day after his birthday.

The reunion was deeply emotional. At first, Semyon didn’t recognize them, but when I revealed who they were, he froze in shock, then embraced them with tears. He asked questions about their mother and shared memories from his photo album. Since then, Vlad has been visiting regularly—bringing gifts, sharing time, and even giving Semyon a bicycle. He also joined us for church and Bible study and is seriously considering moving to our city.

Please pray for Vladislav—that he may come to know Christ personally. I thank God for making this reunion possible.

Blessings to you all!

A Family Found:
Dima’s Journey to Faith

“My name is Dima. I’m 15 years old. I would like to briefly tell you about myself. I used to live in a small town. Our family was poor. I did not go to school much and would rather have attended sports training. I didn’t really believe in the existence of God. One day my mom got sick and the people from the Children’s Services came to us. They told her to have her health checked. She drank heavily and didn’t really look after us, so we were taken care of by our grandmother. Although our grandmother was drinking too, she still always tried to provide food for us and send us to school. One day, our grandmother’s legs failed and she couldn’t walk.

After a couple of weeks, we were taken to another family. Here I started going to school and to the church. In the evenings we all got together and read the Bible. Here, I learned who God is and I began to believe in Him with more faith. I enjoy being in this family very much and I am happy that I got here and that I have parents now. Praise God!”

What a difference a family makes. Many orphaned children face abuse, neglect, and a lack of guidance. But God sees and cares for each one. Through SGA-supported Orphans Reborn teams, many of these children are welcomed into a new kind of family—the family of God. There, they experience love, guidance, and the care of believers who show them what it means to have a perfect Father in Heaven. Please pray for these children and for the faithful men and women ministering to them.
